Drama classes are offered in New Moston and Rochdale. They are usually for children aged 7-18 years old. We usually work on musical theatre.
Younger classes are available for children 5-8 years old.
Our dance sessions are purely for fun! We choreograph pop music and perform regularly for parents to see their child's progress. Pop music dance is suitable for children over the age of 4 years old. We also offer street dance, ballet from age 3, and contemporary dance for children over 10 years.
Some classes are restricted on age, please contact us for more information.
We have a number of drama classes to suit the age and ability of our children.
Minis/juniors is for our children under 7, we work on very short scripts and help children with their reading and confidence. We perform mini shows in our venues for parents to watch and create long lasting memories.
Seniors is for children aged 7-18 and we generally work on MTI musicals. So the full show will including singing, dancing and acting. Children audition for a part in our big musical extravaganzas and parents always love to watch!
Elites in some venues we have an elite team of actors who work on something extra special.
Drama privates are also available and children have the opportunity to take an LCM drama exam. Singing lessons are also available with Scott.
We have number of dance classes for children to take part in. One of our most popular is pop dance! This is a fun dance class with no commitments to exams.
Children come and dance with their friends to fun dance routines to popular music they will recognise.
Children will also have the opportunity to take part in our watch weeks for parents and our dance show. It is recommended for children aged 4-11.
Contemporary and street dance are for our slightly more serious children who want to go a little further in their dancing and our recommended age for this class is aged 9+
We have classes in ballet for beginners and more intermediate dancers and we use the United Teachers of Dance syllabi and there is an option to take UTD exams. Privates lessons are also available in all our dance genres.
We have a fully qualified British Gymnastics coach who teaches all our gymnastics classes. Your child has the opportunity to learn new skills in a safe and secure setting. We also have a range of gymnastics equipment that they have full use of.
We have an air track, air roller, balance beam, gymnastics bar and a trampette. We have mats available for every child to learn new skills whilst in class and children can work towards British Gymnastics badges. We have two age groups ages 4-7 and 8-16.
We have our own venue in Rochdale which has been renovated during the summer of 2020 to allow performing arts classes to take place. We have a private rehearsal space for dancers and singers, complete with ballet barre, mirrors and piano. Our main studio is fully heated using infrared heaters so children will be lovely and toasty warm even on the coldest of days. Our chill out room is available for children to wait between classes complete with sensory lights and projector! There are two separate toilets for both male and female.
We hire the Rachel Almond Dance Academy venue for our New Moston classes and have been happy to call this home for the past 4 years. We use both studios for classes and are adequately lit and has full central heating.
In 2015 I wanted to set up something for children to do in nearby Failsworth. Due to government cuts in the arts budget, I decided on a performing arts group, originally with the name Failsworth Performing Arts to inspire young people through drama and dance. I knew we had to cater for low income families, so needed to come up with a plan to not just cater for children and young people in the area but also their parents and carers. In April 2015 out first class started in Failsworth with more classes added over the coming months and years.
Our original classes of just drama and pop dance have now been expanded to include a lot more, but the vision has not been forgotten about, we still want to cater for children who just want to have fun once a week with their friends without the pressure of exams. However in 2020 we have been passed by the United Teachers of Dance to now do exams in specialist genres of dance, and we also do London College of Music exams in drama and singing for those who want to go the extra mile in their journey whilst they are with us.
The Covid-19 pandemic was a big blow for us and we had to close a number of our classes due to community venues not being allowed to reopen. We decided to renovate a unit in Moss Mill in Rochdale for the purpose of giving every child the best opportunities to study the performing arts, and we have also managed to continue with our classes in New Moston.
